For the project we created two version of the rest. A single rest designed in the shape of a town, enabling the ability to play the pen n a range of orientations. The second a triple rest to place a mixture of Pens on. The base of each Rest uses a small leather pad produced using production offcuts from our leather goods factory in Melton Mowbray.
Working with Olivia Aspinal Studio, experts in technical surface and terrazzo manufacture. We developed a material that used the post production waste from our ebonite Pens and a mixture of eco-resins. After hand sanding and polished the material reveals it's unique texture and aesthetic of colourful ribbons of ebonite that run through the ore of the material.
Each piece was created in direct collaboration with both Olivia Aspinal Studio and Lazarian. Each unique pieces uses a wide range of traditional hand production techniques alongside precision CNC machining. It is only through collaboration that these pieces could have been produced and the limited collection is a special showase of creativity through collaboration.
