Italy Part 1: Florence

Since we were so close to one of the most culturally significant cities in the world it would have been rude not to take a look around. So we hit the road in our Fiat 500 and headed towards Florence.

Ambling down from the Santa Maria del Fiore and its famous dome. It was only when we wandered around a few more corners that we were faced with the colossal, beautiful and iconic cathedral. It's hard to describe the awe we both felt at the intricacy of the cathedrals vast, chequered marble structure. This was just one of the architectural masterpieces that renaissance period and it is impossible not to be completely humbled. Finally we trekked up one of the small hills that surround the city to take one last look at it in all its glory before grabbing the car and heading to Pisa.
